  • Notes
    • Sixth in descent from Mervyn ap Rhodri Mawr was Meredith ap Bleddyn, Prince of Powys, who adopted the "black lion of Powys" (arg., a lion rampant, sa.) in substitution of his father's arms, "or, a lion rampant, gu." By his 2nd wife, Efa, dau. of Blettrws ap Ednowain Bendew, Lord of Tegeingle (Flint), he was father of Jorwerth, alias Gervase Goch ap Meredith, Lord of Mochnan-is-Rhayadr. Meredith ap Bleddyn, whose demise took place in 1132, was father, by his 1st consort Hunydd, dau. of Eunydd ap Gwernwy, Lord of Dyffryn Clwyd, with other issue, of two sons, Madoc ap Meredith, Prince of Lower Powys, and Griffith ap Meredith.
