  1. 1.  John VintonJohn Vinton was born about 1678 in Malden, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA; died in Dec 1760 in Dudley, Worcester, MA.

    Notes:

    Captain Vinton was a man of singular ability, energy, and activity, and became a leader in every place where his lot was cast. He resided successively in Malden, Woburn, Reading, Stoneham, and Dudley. He spent the principal part of his life, from 1710 to November 1738 in Stoneham. In 1700 he was of Woburn, in 1705 and 1706 of Reading, in 1708 and 1709 of Woburn; then lived in Stoneham. In November 1738, he sold his farm in Stoneham, containing 270 acres for 2, 550 in bills of credit, and removed to Dudley, then a new town, incorporated in February 1731.
    More than 30 deeds, between 1700 and 1727, are on recorded in East Cambridge in which he was either grantor or grantee. in 20 of them the land was conveyed to him.

    He was active in procuring the incorporation of Stoneham in 1725. He advanced more money and did more than any other person. He was on the first board of selectmen, and served in that office for 6 years between 1726 and 1735. He presided in town meetings as moderator and was on almost all the important committees. He was representative of the town in 1734.

    John married Hannah Richardson in Apr 1752. Hannah (daughter of Stephen Richardson and Hannah Coy) was born on 11 Oct 1744 in Attleboro, Bristol County, MA; died on 15 Oct 1804 in Attleboro, Bristol County, MA; was buried in Attleboro, Bristol County, MA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
