Caroline Townsend: (NOT Leticia Lynn)
Born in Vermont,
Came to Tennessee as a Schoolteacher. She didn't get along with her
stepmother.
Although we don't believe either Townsend, MA or Lynn, MA is related to
us, the Townsend's landed in Lynn, MA.
Leticia Lynn:
Lynn from Virginia.
Had six children, all sons, three of whom died in infancy
May have come from Lund, Sweden, as part of the Viking invasion to
Northern Ireland. (probably apocryphal)
A Lynd, Presbyterian in Northern Ireland rebelled against the English
(early 19th century) when their property rights revokes, children declared
bastards. Was supposed to be deported to Australia, but got a deal to be
sold as an indentured servant (fixed period) to Virginia - already part
of the U.S. After working off his indentureship, he (name unknown) sent
for his family -- they settled in Tennessee. Name in Virginia changed to
Lynn, because no one could pronounce Lynd.

Grew up in Knoxville, Tenn. Went to U. of TN, Knoxville. Played on
the football team, and had a band.
Went from Louisville, Kentucky to Fall River Mills, CA to be an assistant
minister.
Went to Union Theological Seminary, New York, New York.
Taught at San Francisco Theological Seminary in Marin County, just north
of San Francisco, in San Anselmo
Before that, he has been the minister of the Pres. church in San Rafael.
Chair endowed in 'Christian Social Ethics' at SF Theological Seminary by
shipping magnate Robert Dollar, the richest man in the parish.
Lynn and Clarence were 18 months apart. Lynn older. William was quite a
