The Benjamin that was the son of Thomas Harris and Mary Jefferson (also my line was raised in Henrico County, where you will find the will of both Thomas Harris and Mary Jefferson Harris. He married Frances Platt the daughter of thomas Platt of Henrico County, and his wife Sarah ?. When Goochland broke off Henrico in 1727 or 28 the Harris boys were in Goochland in the part that then lay south of the James R. Benjamin had to sue his brother in laws for Frances inheritance and that is found in Goochland Records. There is also a later notation that Sukey and Joe negro slaves of Benjamin Harris were charged for giving poisen to Mary and Anne Harris daughters of his first marriage. This was some time after his second marriage to Priscilla Wager daughter of Wm Wager who I believe at that time was the clerk of the Elizabeth City County, court The slaves were found NOT GUILTY. these girls were both married in Manikin see Douglas Register. Mary to Col Bernard Markham of Chesterfield County, Virginia and Vincent Markham who married Elizabeth Harris d of Wm in 1776 Now for the daughters of the first marriage of Benjamin. Mary Harris married in Manikin by Rev Douglas Sion Spencer eldest son of Thomas Spencer and Elizabeth Julia Flournoy Elizabeth Julia was the daughter of Elizabeth Harris daughter of John Harris who was elder brother of Benjamin Harris of this discussion. Sion owned land in Chesterfield that he had purchased from Wm Byrd died during Revolution leaving Mary with Thomas Harris Spencer and several others. Mary lived to an old age at least part of the time in Charlotte County, Virginia home county of the elder Spencers. I know that Anne married Joel Estes of Lunenberg County, Virginia in 1770 and was dead by 1776 probably of childbirth. Benjamin Harris then married Priscilla Wager see mg 1751 in Goochland County, see Douglas Register. as said before she was the daughter of William Wager and Ann Henson. they had the following children HENSON WAGER HARRIS b1753 ref: D.R. she married 24 September 1770 at Maniken Edward Moseley ref: Douglas Register PHOEBE HARRIS b 1755 again ref Douglas Register married by 1778 location unknown to Nathanial Carrington who was b 28 Feb 1743 EDITH HARRIS B C 1757 in Cumberland County, Virginia never married. At the time of Benjamins Harris death he had 57 slaves #46 Jupiter he had received from his sister Sarah Harris in her will. I HOPE THAT THIS CLEARS UP THE CONFUSION AND ALTHOUGH IT IS POSSIBLE FROM THE RECORDS I HAVE OF LAND PURCHASES ETC. IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO PLACE BENJAMIN HARRIS IN MARYLAND UNLESS IT WAS FOR A VERY BRIEF TIME . THE SECOND MARRIAGE WAS NOT A VERY HAPPY ONE I GATHER PRISCILLA REFUSED TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ESTATE. FRAN FLETCHER - This is my family I know it inside and out after almost 40 years of searching.
