Notes:
Received Law Degree from Univ. CA (Berkley) in 1909. Briefly practiced law. Studied Baking, managed a bakery for awhile then bought one in Kansas City, Mo and operated it for several years. He was involved in a deal to try to develop oil shale in to Bluff UT area about 1913, and the family moved there at that time.
He was a Capt in the US Army during WWI and was stationed Europe in charge of some Military Police. The bakery in K.C. was after WWI.
By 1930 he was working as a real estate broker and appraiser and lived in Westwood on Burnam Way, just off of Sepulveda. In 1942, due to health problems he retired from work, and he and Mae moved to son Harry's family in Escondido CA. In 1944 he fell ill and went to the VA Hospital in Sawtelle between Westwood & Santa Monica, CA where he died a few months later.
Bernard was a lifelong friend of Jack London, and the family often visited Jack at his home.
