- Anne St. LEGER m. Thomas Digges first; however, after his death, she did remarry. In fact, her second husband was the executor of William Shakespeare's will,and the Bard was a friend of the family, including her sons. Nevertheless, she led a sucessful move to prevent Shakespeare from building a theatre near her home. She has been described as strong-willed and feisty.
