Notes |
- See Biography in Carpinteria Herald, republished by Carpinteria Valley Historical Society. Rolland Ogan was born and died in the same house. He played the mandolin. In 1913 he settled a homestead in Ventucopa in the Cuyama Valley, California. He lived at Ventucopa until moving in 1919 to Moorpark, CA, to open a blacksmith shop with Billie Treloar, Myrtle's brother. Later they moved the blacksmith shop to Montecito. Rolland returned to Carpinteria in 1924 where he raised lima beans, lemons, and oranges on his property. He also started an electric business which he later sold, becoming a carpenter until his retirement in 1956. In his later years his Parkinson's disease prevented him form driving so he would walk 5 blocks to Pete's Pool Hall on Carpinteria Avenue.
