They had 2 daughters before Frances died. they were Mary Harris who married 20 May 1769 Manikin D.R. to Sion Spencer eldest son of Thomas Spencer and Elizabeth Julia Flournoy daughter of John James Flournoy french Huegenot and sister of Samuel Flournoy (see John and Ursula Jordans family) the other girl was Anne Harris who married 1770 in Manikin to Joel Estes of Lunenberg County, Virginia Benjamin Harris then married a 2nd time to Priscilla Wager daughter of William Wager clerk of the Elizabeth City Virginia County, Ct and his wife Ann Henson. the children of this mg were 4 Children. He died in Amelia County, but his will was proved in cumberland County, 20 Oct 1802. H. William Wager Harris married 9 Dec 1788 Powhatan County, Virginia to Mary Farrar d Joseph Royall Frarrar and Phoebe Harris

The Benjamin that was the son of Thomas Harris and Mary Jefferson (also my line was raised in Henrico County, where you will find the will of both Thomas Harris and Mary Jefferson Harris. He married Frances Platt the daughter of thomas Platt of Henrico County, and his wife Sarah ?. When Goochland broke off Henrico in 1727 or 28 the Harris boys were in Goochland in the part that then lay south of the James R. Benjamin had to sue his brother in laws for Frances inheritance and that is found in Goochland Records. There is also a later notation that Sukey and Joe negro slaves of Benjamin Harris were charged for giving poisen to Mary and Anne Harris daughters of his first marriage. This was some time after his second marriage to Priscilla Wager daughter of Wm Wager who I believe at that time was the clerk of the Elizabeth City County, court The slaves were found NOT GUILTY. these girls were both married in Manikin see Douglas Register. Mary is mentioned in Benjamins will written 24 April 1776. See W.B. l Cumberland County, Virginia the executors were Edward Mosely (son in law) Saml Nevins (a physician) Bernard Markham (a son in law of Benjamins younger brother William Harris having married11 May 1767 in Cumberland County, Virginia Mary Harris who died in April 1825 in Henry County, Kentucky. ) HE WAS NOT BENJAMINS SON IN LAW. two of William Harris girls me Markhams. Mary to Col Bernard Markham of Chesterfield County, Virginia and Vincent Markham who married Elizabeth Harris d of Wm in 1776 Now for the daughters of the first marriage of Benjamin. Mary Harris married in Manikin by Rev Douglas Sion Spencer eldest son of Thomas Spencer and Elizabeth Julia Flournoy Elizabeth Julia was the daughter of Elizabeth Harris daughter of John Harris who was elder brother of Benjamin Harris of this discussion. Sion owned land in Chesterfield that he had purchased from Wm Byrd died during Revolution leaving Mary with Thomas Harris Spencer and several others. Mary lived to an old age at least part of the time in Charlotte County, Virginia home county of the elder Spencers. I know that Anne married Joel Estes of Lunenberg County, Virginia in 1770 and was dead by 1776 probably of childbirth. Benjamin Harris then married Priscilla Wager see mg 1751 in Goochland County, see Douglas Register. as said before she was the daughter of William Wager and Ann Henson. they had the following children HENSON WAGER HARRIS b1753 ref: D.R. she married 24 September 1770 at Maniken Edward Moseley ref: Douglas Register PHOEBE HARRIS b 1755 again ref Douglas Register married by 1778 location unknown to Nathanial Carrington who was b 28 Feb 1743 EDITH HARRIS B C 1757 in Cumberland County, Virginia never married. Her will is found in Book l pp 40 Powhatan County, Virginia which had broken off Cumberland by that time proved 18 Nov 1779 her extrs were Edw Mosely Dr. Saml Nevins and Bernard Markham. She willed slaves to the Dr.s family as well as others. a slave Patti to her sister Henson Wager, a slave Loue to her sister SALLY OR SARAH HARRIS b August of 1759 in Cumberland County, Virginia married 20 December 1785 to William Yates. Surety Thomas Harris (who had been appointed her Gaurdian) ANN HENSON WAGER HARRIS KNOWN AS NAncY. she was listed as head of household in 1785 in Powhatan received a slave Jude from Ediths will. I have no record of her ever marrying BENJAMIN HARRIS JR. b c 1761 in cumberland County, Virginia He received a slave Bristo from sister Ediths will. He married l. 27 March 1793 in Amelia County, Virginia to an heiress Martha Wilson that brought with her marriage some 30 odd slaves. this marriage produced Sarah Harris who married Wm Saunders 2 July 1803 in Powhatan County, Virginia and Egbert and Wilson Harris. He married 2 9 Jan 1795 Lucy Turpin of Thos Turpin. after Benj Jr.'s will was proved October 1802 in Powhatan County, Virginia Lucy Turpin Harris married William Bentley.By Lucy Turpin Benjamin had Martha Eveline Harris who married 17 Nov 1819 William Ligon and Marcus Aurelius Harris who d 1844 Powhatan County, Virginia unmarrried Benjamins Harris and Priscilla Wagers last child was WILLIAM WAGER HARRIS (named for her father) b c 1766 Cumberland County, Virginia married 9 Dec 1788 Powhatan County, Virginia Mary Farrar daughter of Joseph Royall Farrar and Phoebe Harris daughter of Benjamin Harris older brother James Harris and Sarah Baily of chesterfield County, Virginia surety was Thomas Harris gaurdian. Chuck this is all original research not printed Benjamins will of Manikin Cumberland County, old and infirm to wife Priscilla land on the James River bought of James Sublette and Peter David to son Benjamin land in Mechlenberg County, Virginia son William Wager to have land on James River and Salle's Creek and lower Manikin Creek in Chesterfield County, and Cumberland co's Virginia To daughter Mary Spencer land in Transylvania executor Edward Moseley , Abraham Salle' Bernard Markham signed 24 April 1776 witnesses Saml Bellamey Wm Kerr, Geo Shafter and Abraham Salle' security Charles Woodson, John Mayo, and Richard Crump. i In 1778 county records Edith, Sally, Nancy, Wm and Benjamin represented by friend Bernard Markham versus Edward Mosely and Henson Wager Mosely asking their cousins John Harris, Thomas Harris, Wm Harris and Charles Clarke to divide the estate for them. At the time of Benjamins Harris death he had 57 slaves #46 Jupiter he had received from his sister Sarah Harris in her will. I HOPE THAT THIS CLEARS UP THE CONFUSION AND ALTHOUGH IT IS POSSIBLE FROM THE RECORDS I HAVE OF LAND PURCHASES ETC. IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO PLACE BENJAMIN HARRIS IN MARYLAND UNLESS IT WAS FOR A VERY BRIEF TIME . THE SECOND MARRIAGE WAS NOT A VERY HAPPY ONE I GATHER PRISCILLA REFUSED TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ESTATE. FRAN FLETCHER - This is my family I know it inside and out after almost 40 years of searching.
