He moved from London to Barbados after 1722, probably about 1729. He took over the operation and management of Byde Mill (a sugar cane mill in Barbados) after the death of his father. He left the bulk of his estate to Ann, his daughter. This included over 4000 acres in Goochland, equipment, and slaves. Will is dated 21 May 1747 and is stamped by Archives Barbados.
