Notes |
- Myndert was born in New Amsterdam and was baptized there in the Dutch Church, May 3, 1643. He settled in Schenectady with his brother in 1680, and later moved to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. On Oct 24, 1686 he and Robert Sanders obtained a patent on 12,000 acres of land known as "Minnisinck" in Dutchess County, New York, including the site of the present city of Poughkeepsie. In the later part of 1692 he established his home on the Val Kil in the vicinity of North Bridge Street. In 1716 he gave the site for a church and burial ground. Later he presented the town with a site for the first county court house, at Main and Market Street.
