Caleb Trowbridge came in childhood with his father to Wilton, Conn., where he was engaged in farming for a number of years after his marriage. He had six acres from the north part of his father's homestead on Chestnut Hill, his brother Daniel's farm being on the south. In May 1741, he removed to New Fairfield, a neighboring town, where he passed the remainder of his life. The names of Caleb Trowbridge and his wife are in the first list of communicants of the New Fairfield Congregational church, dated March 29, 1758. One of his descendants thinks that Caleb was a soldier in the French and Indian Wars, but no such service is on record.
