Was in Texas at outbreak of C.W. so entered service with the Texas Rangers. The silver star with which he pinned his hat, is one of the heirlooms of the family. Later Dr. Dandridge was transferred to Salisbury N.C. He was one of the surgeons in charge of the federal [sic] hospital there. After the war, he located at Madison N.C. He was a splendid physician; and soon built up a large practice. Dr. Dandridge was an unusually handsome, cultured man, and his death brought sorrow to hundreds of admirers and friends.
