From "History of Patrick and Henry Counties" p. 114 (probably written by Annie Dell Dandridge)
"Among the many young women who have gone to other fields to seek their fortunes, Miss Annie Dandridge deserves more than a passing notice. She was born in Henry Co., Va. and is the daughter of Dr. Robert B. Dandridge and Susan Rangeley Dandridge."
"After finishing her studies in school and having developed a taste for literary work she taught school a number of terms in the county near her home, later going to Washington City where she secured a position in one of the Federal offices and has held that position for a number of years. The accomplishments, possessed by few, of perfect penmanship has proved to be of inestimable value in some of her work."
She worked for the Dept of the Navy and among her jobs was hand-printing diplomas for U.S. Navy Academy graduates.
Although in later life she seemed to have had a general aversion to kids ("Don't let the screen door slam behind you!"); T. Hugh Dandridge said that his aunt Annie once told him she was very proud of him for wearing the uniform and serving his country.
