Notes |
- John Camp was frequently called "John, the elder" because he had a son John who was also well know around Nazeing Parish. John's profession was listed as a yeoman which means he was a farmer who owned his own land.
"The will of John Camp the elder of Nazeing, Co. Essex, yeoman, dated 21 May 1630, proved 11 Jun 1630. Bequeaths to sons John, George, Nicholas, Thomas; to daughters Mary and Sarah; to grandchildren Elizabeth and John Camp; to John Eliot my grandchild when he reaches age 18 years; residue to wife, Mary, who is named executrix; desires his good friends Richard and William Camp to be overseers." Quoted from "Early Rehoboth" Volume II by Richard LeBaron Bowen, Page 89. Also from the Commissary Court of London, Will Abstracts, Volume 26, (1629-1634).
