- BIOGRAPHY: Hopkins of Virginia and Related Families
A son of Col. Wm. Lewis of Sweet Springs, Va., and grandson of John Lewis, the first European settler of Augusta Co., Va. Col. William Lewis was Member of Congress 1817-19, died 1828 at Mount Athos, and was buried in a vault blasted out of a solid rock at its summit. He died without any issue.
