John Charles Lindsay, while a resident of Frederick Co., Maryland, joined the Militia as a private in September 1777.
In 1779 he moved with his family to Pennsylvania, then in 1780 to Buffalo Creek, Pennsylvania/Virginia. In 1781 they moved to Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania. During this time he served with the military guarding against Indians on the frontier.
In 1784, John Lindsay moved with his family and other relatives to Fayette Co., Virginia, which is now part of Henry Co., Kentucky. He stayed in Henry Co. until 1836, when he deeded his farm to son Nathaniel Lindsay and went to live his remaining years with son Cyrus Lindsay in Hancock Co., Kentucky.
