- Zeb was trained as a millwright in Crown City, Ohio. After marriage he settled in St. Albans, West Virginia. He owned and ran a large farm there and was a member of the firm Trowbridge & Halstead. He was a deputy sheriff of Kanawha County for 10 years. He was a deputy tax commissioner at Charleston, West Virginia for one term.
