      Was associated with the Boones, Hendersons, et als. in the settlement of Kentucky, and was one of 18 men who met in Legislative Assembly under a large Elm tree near the walls of the fort at Boonesborough, May 23, 1775 to establish a government in the new country. (Colonial Families of the U.S.)

      In June, 1779, his brother-in-law, Patrick Henry, recommended him to Gen. Steven as a prospective son-in-law. Served in the Continental Dragoons. One of the original organizers of the Kentucky Territory.
