They hung up on a snag and had to wait for high tide to float them off. Arriving in San Francisco she stayed at the Fish home, relatives of Henry Fish. Later she took the boat 'Orizaba' from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, where she stayed with a cousin, Carrie Colby Johnson, at the foot of State Street, Santa Barbara. Later she came to Carpinteria and stayed with another cousin Mate Colby Pearce, who lived behind the Rincon Schoolhouse. The Ogan home at 5191 Ogan Road was built by James S. Ogan for this couple.
