    According to Lionel van Kleeck, Basil's son, informed this writer that
    Basil could play any string instrument by ear. They would have dances at
    his home for the neighborhood, rolling up the carpet in the living room
    and Basil would play his banjo. Basil was also an avid sportsman, hunting
    bear, deer and fowl.

    (believe he means Basil) van Kleeck who played the accordion and knew an
    amazing number of old Catskill calls. Mike accompanied with his harmonica
    and bones."
