  Elizabeth Berry is perhaps named after James Berry, her great uncle, a famous Indian fighter in Kentucky. James Berry's home was on the headwaters of Tate's Creek near Irvine's Lick Station, within a short distance of Richmond, KY, where he died. Elizabeth is related to the Daniel Boone and Kit Carson through her grandmother, Nancy Grubbs. There is likelihood of Indian (Cherokee, Blackfeet (of Virginia) or Choctaw) ancestry through the Garlands.
