  • Notes
    • MY (SYLVIA PAYNE WILLIAMS) FATHER WAS A HARD WORKING FARMER. WHEN HE WAS
RAISING THE FAMILY (FOUR BOYS AND FIVE GIRLS) HE DID THE FARMING WITH
HORSES. AFTER WALKING BEHIND THE PLOW OR LISTER FOR SEVERAL HOURS, WHICH
WAS TIRING WORK, HE ALWAYS TOOK TIME TO PLAY WITH THE CHILDREN, HE LOVED
TO PLAY THE VIOLIN FOR THEM. HE ALSO PLAYED THE VIOLIN FOR DANCES.
FATHER ALSO WENT INTO THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS IN CULBERTSON, NE. BEFORE
      RETIRING.

I (NEIL) REMEMBER GRANDFATHER WILLIAM PLAYING THE VIOLIN IN 1950 WHEN I
VISITED HIM IN HIS HOME IN CALIFORNIA. HE WAS BLIND AT THE TIME BUT HE
      REALLY ENJOYED PLAYING.
