- BIOGRAPHY: Hopkins of Virginia and Related Families
The young couple lived first at "Ampt Hill" Cumberland Co., Va., on lands that had come down to that branch of the family from Robert, commonly called, "King Carter"; in 1806, with nine children they emigrated to Fayette Co., Ky., on lands which had belonged to Shadrack Vaughan for military service in Braddock's war; they called their new home "Elk Hill "and here their last child was born. Robert Carter Harrison was son of Susanna Randolph & (her husband) Carter Henry Harrison, the next brother to Benjamin Harrison, the Signer, b. 1726. They left many descendants.
